Upon being awarded 'Charlie' in 1977, Teasdale made more than just a football statement. He made a fashion statement, donning a very questionable brown velvet suit with a shirt that resembled the 'puffy shirt' from Seinfeld.

Reflecting on the night, Teasdale said: "The suit was never, ever my choice.

"In those days, if you're over 6'2, you found it difficult players to fit, and the guy said, 'look, don't worry, I've got the suit that'll fit, but it's at the other store.

"Of course, being 22, I didn't both picking it up until about two hours before the Brownlow, and then he brought this brown thing out, and I thought, 'ohhh Jesus'.

"The hipsters are starting to bring it back, it's good to see.

"Different people have come up to me and said, 'I kicked six goals in a grand final, and nobody remembers me but they always remember that stinking brown suit of yours."
