Fremantle will be happy to offer Melbourne a second-round pick for dashing defender Judd McVee.
The speedy Demon has stated his intention to return to his home state after four years in Melbourne, having played 65 games after being selected in the rookie draft.
The 22-year-old has rarely missed a game since making his debut in 2023, and had quickly become a significant cog in Melbourne's line-up.
The Dockers see McVee playing across half back, helping turn defence into attack alongside Jordan Clark and Heath Chapman.
"Very exciting for the club," Fremantle's Head of Player Personnel David Walls said.
"I think Judd can really add to us, and really complement our list. We were very pleased when Judd announced Fremantle as his club of choice.
"We've had some early chats with Melbourne, but still plenty to play out. I don't think our picks line up with what his value is, so we'll look to move around and shuffle, and come to a deal that everyone is happy with."
Fremantle's current draft hand (Picks 12, 33, 44, 53 and 71) are not deemed suitable in the eyes of Walls for McVee.
"Still needs to play out, and what happens to the compensation picks," he added.
"I think he's a second-round pick, Judd."
Walls also touched on Will Brodie and Liam Reidy, and their desire to join Port Adelaide and Carlton.
The Dockers are looking at bringing picks in for both players, especially given the club is promoting Josh Draper (Category B Rookie) and Jeremy Sharp (rookie list) to the primary contingent.
Brodie hasn't played senior football since 2023, and is set to reunite with Josh Carr, who has taken over the reins in Alberton.
"He's (Brodie) looking for an opportunity at Port," Walls said.
"We'll work with him and Port to assist that to happen. We won't be expecting a lot. We're happy for Will to go and get the opportunity over there, and it frees us up with a list spot to do something else, and a bit of salary cap relief.
"We really only have three senior list spots available, so it'll be more picks (we are after) rather than players."
