Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir dismissed anything "sinister" about why the club had photos of four umpires in their dressing rooms.

After the narrow North Melbourne win last week, footage showed the Dockers had images and the accompanying names of a quartet of umpires.

Longmuir, who was quizzed about it following the impressive victory over Essendon, quibbled over why they were there in the first place.

"It wasn't a specific tactic – someone just decided to put 'em up somewhere different," Longmuir said.

"Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. It is astonishing it got picked up last week, and it was made something of.

"We've been doing it for four years, I reckon.

"There's nothing sinister about it.

"We want our players and staff to understand who is umpiring the game – it's not to get a benefit or the wrong way or right way."

The Dockers recorded their fifth straight victory on Thursday night, pressing their claims for a top-four berth.

They remain in Western Australia and will host St Kilda next Sunday, before travelling to Sydney to take on the Swans at the SCG in Round 17.
