Former AFL-listed pair Jacob Bauer and Caleb Poulter have set their sights on careers in American Football, linking up with the Australian Kicking Academy following their respective delistings.

The pair will look to join the list of recent AFL players turned Gridiron punters, a pathway that has seen former Magpie Mitch McCarthy help lead Indiana to the National Championship.

McCarthy will be joined by former Carlton and Western Bulldogs forward Billy Gowes at Indiana next year, with the 2024 VFL leading goalkicker making the move from the University of Hawaii.

Recently delisted Hawthorn forward Jasper Scaife has also made the move to college football, signing with the University of Notre Dame for the coming year.

Poulter's code switch comes after five seasons at AFL level, sharing his time between Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

The South Australian started his career in the black and white, playing a dozen games for the Magpies across his pair of seasons with the club.

He would earn a career lifeline with the Bulldogs midway through 2023 after impressing for Footscray. Poulter added 23 games to his career tally during his time at the Kennel, and would feature in the club's VFL premiership team last year.

Bauer, another Mid-Season Draft selection, joined Richmond in 2022 out of North Adelaide.

The 23-year-old played 12 AFL games across three seasons at Punt Road, including five games in 2025.
