Recently retired Melbourne midfielder Harley Bennell has been taken to a Gold Coast hospital overnight following celebrations for the end of his career, per The Courier Mail.
Police attended an apartment in Broadbeach late on Monday night after being called for a disturbance, where they found the 27-year-old heavily intoxicated, soon calling on paramedics.
Bennell was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
The former Gold Coast, Fremantle and Melbourne player announced his retirement on Instagram yesterday, after a troublesome career within the AFL.
Bennell joined Melbourne via the supplementary selection period and played five games for the Demons in 2020 as a rookie.
