Port Adelaide Power have appointed Andy Collins as the club's director of coaching.

The triple premiership-winning former Hawks defender is an experienced coach and football administrator.

Collins has held various coaching roles since his retirement from playing in 1996, with his highlights including VFL premierships with both Williamstown and Sandringham.

He has spent the past four years at the Hawthorn Hawks, where he was the head of development.

"We thank him for his service to the club," said Rob McCartney, Hawthorn's EGM of Football.

"His influence in mentoring and guiding our emerging players during several years of important development at our club has been significant."

Collins also thanked Hawthorn for his time at the club.

"I also want to thank Hawthorn for the opportunities I've been afforded by the club since I was a player myself. I'll always be grateful for my time at the Hawks," said Collins.

At Port Adelaide, Collins will oversee and lead coaching development.

"I'm thrilled to be making the move to Port Adelaide," said Collins.

"I'm passionate about developing people, so to have the chance to help a relatively young group of coaches become the best they can be is an opportunity too good to pass up."
