Former Hawthorn and Geelong player Emerson Jeka has signed with VFL reigning premiers Werribee as a mid-season recruit.

Jeka has made the move to the 'Bees after starting his 2025 campaign with Western Football Netball League outfit Altona.

The 23-year-old has played just one game for the local side this year, featuring against Hoppers Crossing in the club's season opener.

Jeka is now set to return to the VFL stage, having decided to sign with Werribee for the remainder of the 2025 season.

"It's great to have such a quality local Wyndham person and player join our football club. We are really excited to see what he can bring," Werribee football manager Kyle Hartigan said.

"Emerson is super talented, and he will be a great addition to our group. Having played at the highest level, he can add value in so many ways."

Jeka's AFL career started in 2020 after he was recruited of the Western Jets by Hawthorn as a rookie.

The 198cm talent played seven games over three years with the Hawks, mostly used as a tall forward target.

He was delisted by the Hawks at the end of 2023 before securing a lifeline with Geelong in November that year.

Jeka wouldn't feature at the senior level for Geelong, instead playing 19 games for the Cats' VFL side as a defender.

He averaged 17.5 disposals and 4.6 marks per game in the state league scene last year before being cut from the Cats.
