Port Adelaide has agreed to terms with departing West Coast assistant coach Luke Webster, marking the beginning of changes within the coaching staff for the Josh Carr era.

According to SEN's Sam Edmund, the Power offered Webster a fresh start after his contract at the Eagles was not renewed beyond the 2025 season, which now sees him join Carr's coaching team for 2026 and beyond in an assistant role.

Webster interestingly noted in Port Adelaide's statement on Monday that he had been looking to join the club for multiple years and was thankful he could be a part of Carr's first season.

"I'm incredibly excited to be joining Port Adelaide and working with senior coach Josh Carr," Webster said.

"I've been in talks with Port Adelaide for a couple of years now, and the opportunity to be part of this club's new chapter is something I couldn't pass up.

"Port Adelaide has such a rich history and passionate supporter base, and I'm looking forward to contributing to the club's success both on and off the field."

Webster brings a wealth of experience and a premiership pedigree to the Power, having been a member of the Eagles organisation for over a decade and coaching in a diverse range of roles.

He began his tenure in 2015 as a development coach, through the club's 2018 premiership, before being named the senior coach for West Coast's WAFL affiliate for the 2019 season. Webster rejoined the AFL program in 2020 as a forward line coach, playing a role in Oscar Allen's breakout 2023 campaign before spending the 2024 and 2025 seasons as a backline coach.

Carr was thrilled to enlist his former Fremantle teammate onto his coaching panel.

"I know Luke really well from our time together at Fremantle, and he's an outstanding person and coach," Carr said.

"His character is first-class. He's someone who builds genuine relationships with players and has an outstanding reputation as an assistant coach across multiple areas of the game.

"Luke's experience and knowledge will be invaluable for our emerging playing group as we continue to build our program."

A number of changes have already taken place at Alberton since Port Adelaide's season concluded a fortnight ago, with six players delisted, including long-time club servants Ryan Burton and Jeremy Finlayson, and highly rated football boss Chris Davies opting to take on a new challenge at Carlton for 2026.
