Carlton co-captain Sam Docherty revealed some heartbreaking news on Monday Night.
The Blues defender stunned fans with the solemn news regarding the recurrence of his testicular cancer, revealing that he will need to receive chemotherapy treatment for the next twelve weeks.
"It's hard to know the right way to share this," said Docherty in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Monday night. "But I think the most important thing to do is to own my story authentically.
"It's been a really tough few days processing the news and understanding what the next few months is going to look like for me.
"While i'm looking forward to getting back out on the track for pre-season, right now my focus is on my health and getting through this time and as such, I would appreciate the respect of my privacy through this difficult time."
The news comes after the Blues star was first diagnosed with the cancer back in November, in which he was expected to make a full recovery and return to the Blues' preparations for the 2021 season.
However, a joint statement with the club has revealed that a secondary occurrence of his cancer was detected during a routine medical check-up, expecting to push his return to footy back.
Since the reveal of the heartbreaking news, the footy community has shared a load of love and support for the much-loved Blue.
Docherty's former club was one of the first to send their support for the star, taking to social media to wish him a speedy recovery.
Teammates Patrick Cripps, Eddie Betts, Jack Silvagni, Sam Walsh and Harry McKay were among those who sent their support, sending hearts and well wishes all over social media.
Footy fans from all backgrounds have also been just as supportive for the Carlton star, with thousands sharing his story and praying for him to make a full recovery.

"Right now, Sam's health is the number one priority and he will be given all the support he needs as he undergoes the necessary treatment to allow him to recover fully" said Carlton head of football Brad Lloyd.
"Sam is an incredibly resilient person, a strong character and the entire Carlton family is behind him every step of the way".
Whilst the news remains a massive blow for the footy community, Docherty continues to use the "curveball" as a way to spread awareness.
"If anything doesn't feel right with your health please go get yourself checked" urges Docherty. "It could save your life."
