A cut-throat league like the AFL demands excellence, and as a result, there's one winner and 17 losers.

But the reality is, not all clubs are expected to be pressing for a premiership, or even finals.

The introduction of the top 10 and the wildcard round has altered the forecasting of many teams.

And for that exact reason, each team's pass mark should vary based on a variety of factors.

Below, we have determined what each club should be striving for and what their fan base should be expecting in 2026...

Pass mark: Grand Final

It's hard to see the Lions flailing after a second consecutive premiership, and that is why the bar is set at a fourth grand final appearance.

Brisbane achieved this feat in the early 2000s (2001-2004) and claimed three-straight flags.

The additions of Oscar Allen, Sam Draper and Dan Annable only help Chris Fagan's push for more glory, and have the Queensland club primed for its premiership defence.

Despite bucking the trend, recent history has shown it is difficult to back up a flag, but if anyone can do it, it's these trusty Lions.
