This season is finally the year Hugh McCluggage is recognised for his individual efforts.
The Brisbane midfielder has been consistently brilliant since joining the club through the 2016 National Draft.
Yet somehow his individual accolades look lean compared to some of his star-studded counterparts, but that's no reflection on his performances.
McCluggage has come agonisingly close to a maiden best-and-fairest award at the Lions, finishing third three times (2019, 2020 and 2023), second twice (2021 and 2022), and fourth (2024).
He's also been included in the All-Australian squad on four occasions without snaring a blazer. But this is the year.
The former Pick 3 is averaging career highs in disposals (27), clearances (5.8), inside 50s (5.8), and score involvements (7.6).
McCluggage is also hitting a mean of 15.73 player rating points, according to WheeloRatings, which is at least 2.87 points higher than any other season.

And Sunday's blockbuster performance against Hawthorn only strengthened his argument as an All-Australian lock.
McCluggage collected 32 possessions and kicked two goals, showcasing his ability to stand up in crucial games and moments.
It has become a common theme for the 27-year-old to rise to the occasion.
His increasing role as a primary midfielder has seen a vast improvement in his game.
McCluggage could've easily been awarded an All-Australian blazer as one of the competition's best wingmen, who, on occasion, rolled through the centre bounce.
But in 2025, his increased time as a genuine on-baller (73.1 per cent) has reaped the rewards.
The Lions secured a top-four finish for the fifth time under Chris Fagan, and will face Geelong at the MCG.
And it's safe to say McCluggage will have a major say on how deep the club goes in 2025.
