Footscray premiership coach Stewart Edge is the latest name to join Sydney ahead of the 2026 season, lining up in their recruitment team.

Edge spent the past decade at the Western Bulldogs, which included leading the VFL side for the last five seasons as well as playing key roles in the development space.

He was named the VFL coach of the Year in 2021 and 2025. Before his stint at the Kennel, he was with GWS as a forward and defensive coach following their introduction to the competition.

Edge will work in Melbourne and the Swans' South Melbourne home alongside Head of List Strategy Chris Keane and National Recruiting Manager John Giramondo.

"Recruiting is something I've always wanted to progress into after coaching, and I think it will be a fantastic challenge," Edge said.

"There's always so much satisfaction in watching young guys, whether they're early picks or more left-field, progress and achieve their goals to play at the highest level.

"The existing list is really exciting, and the challenge is to sustain the list quality and add to, which I'm looking forward to being involved in."

Edge and Sydney GM of Football Leon Cameron have an existing relationship from their days at the Giants.

The Swans have undergone a major overhaul of their coaching group, welcoming Simon Goodwin (new director of coaching and performance), Wayne Campbell (Head of Swans Academy) and Jeremy Laidler (assistant coach), while Matthew Pavlich replaced Tom Harley as the club's CEO in October.

Long-serving list boss Kinnear Beatson has transitioned out of the club's list management team, and has taken a part-time role in the Sydney Academy.

Edge will help fill the void left by Beatson.
