The SANFL have announced a 26-man squad to take on the WAFL in Saturday's state game at Adelaide Oval, with up to five players in the frame to make their state debut.

After going down to the VFL by 11 points at Tanunda during Gather Round, the SANFL will be boosted by a host of big names returning to the state setup.

Magarey Medallists Harry Grant and Will Snelling are both available for selection after missing the VFL clash, while former state captain Joe Sinor, previous Fos Williams medallist Casey Voss and gun Norwood defender Jack Heard are all set to take the field.

Meanwhile, Adelaide's Blake Drury and Port Adelaide's Jack Watkins could make their SANFL state debuts following outstanding starts to the local season.

Woodville-West Torrens ruckman Jordan Lukac is poised to complete a meteoric rise from reserves football in 2024 to state ruckman after being included as the sole specialist ruckman.

Central District pair Rhett Montgomerie and Mani Liddy have been rewarded for their terrific form in the opening six rounds and could also make their first state appearances.

Of the team that lost to the VFL in April, Jez McLennan (calf), Jack Hayes (knee soreness), Flynn Perez (foot), Kobe Ryan (shoulder) and Max Proud (managed) will all be unavailable due to injury concerns.

The SANFL squad will train on Wednesday and Thursday evenings before being trimmed to a final 22 ahead of Saturday's match.

South Australia will again be coached by Glenelg dual premiership mentor Darren Reeves and skippered by Tigers captain Liam McBean.

They will be eying off a sixth consecutive victory against WA dating back to 2019, in what will be the 100th battle between the fierce rivals.

Held as a curtain raiser before the Port Adelaide v Geelong game, the state clash will kick off at 11:30am local time on Saturday at Adelaide Oval.
