Essendon great Tim Watson has declared that star defender Adam Saad "has one foot out the door".

The out-of-contract speedster is currently weighing up a four-year offer from the Bombers amid uncertainty around the club's direction.

The 26-year old has been linked to Carlton, North Melbourne, Melbourne and Richmond, with the Blues reportedly coming hard in the past week.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Watson has mail that Saad is halfway gone from Essendon.

“I’m hearing that Adam Saad, who is probably close to my favourite Essendon player, has one foot out the door,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“I’m hearing he’s got one foot out the door.

“I hope I’m wrong because he is one of my favourite players.”

Saad is coming off a consecutive top three finish in the Bombers' best and fairest after averaging 18.9 disposals and 4.5 rebound 50s per game in 2020.

As he does not yet qualify for free agency, rival clubs would need to acquire Saad via trade.
