Essendon defender Martin Gleeson is believed to be "more than open" to a move away from Tullamarine after falling out-of-favour with the Bombers in 2020.

It is understood that Essendon have tabled a one-year deal for the 26-year-old, with Gleeson hoping to secure a long-term contract.

Gleeson signed a two-year deal at the end of the 2018 season and is now placed as an unrestricted free agent.

“I think, and other clubs think as well, that if they can get him out on a two-year or three-year extension that he’d be more than open to looking around for opportunities elsewhere," AFL reporter Cal Twomey said.

Gleeson joined the Bombers in 2012 and played 13 games in 2020.
