Essendon senior coach Brad Scott has reassured that there was nothing of major concern for two Bombers midfielders, stating that Harrison Jones and Dylan Shiel will be available for selection for Thursday night against North Melbourne.
Harrison Jones was subbed off early in the Anzac Day clash after rolling his ankle, while Shiel was benched late in the game with tightness and cramping.
"Both are fine," Scott told media on Monday.
"It would be hard to gauge if you watched training today, we have a lot of guys on individual programs, but both are available for selection."
Scott also hinted at the possibility of changes to the line-up for their clash with North Melbourne, highlighting Elijah Tsatas as a chance to return after a stint on the sidelines.
Zak Johnson, Pick 70 of the 2024 National Draft, also made a firm case for his AFL debut after performing strongly in Essendon's VFL side over the weekend. He collected 33 disposals to go with eight marks and six intercepts in a stellar performance on Saturday night.
"There may be [some squad changes for Thursday]. There were some good performances in the VFL," Scott said.
"We left Elijah Tsatas out as more of a list management perspective.. there's a five day break between the VFL and the AFL game so we needed to manage our availability there.
"Elijah was very unlucky to miss the last two weeks, he only went out of the side with a broken hand, and others took their opportunity, but Elijah's ready to go if we choose to make a change in that part of the ground."
Matt Guelfi and Nik Cox are also slated to return to action for the first time this season via the VFL, Guelfi recovering from surgery on his hamstring in February while Cox has dealt with concussion concerns this season.
"We expect them to play in the VFL this week," Scott said.
"They will train today and provided there's no setback, they're slated to play this week. It's pleasing to get them back and into some form."
Essendon will look to return to a winning record with a win over North Melbourne on Thursday night as the Kangaroos look to bounce back after falling agonisingly short to Port Adelaide.
