West Coast has announced that up-and-coming midfielder Connor West has inked a one-year extension to remain at Lathlain Park for the 2023 season.
Having commenced his days as an Eagle after being selected during the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, the mulleted midfielder has carved out a place in Adam Simpson's senior side, tasting AFL action on 19 occasions.
With the Eagles turning their eye to the future after a disastrous 2022 campaign, the 23-year-old has a sound platform before him to take his game to another level in 2023.
West showed the best of his wares against Melbourne earlier this year, racking up 29 touches and laying seven tackles during his side's hefty 74-point loss in May.
While injuries curtailed the back end of his sophomore season, the freshly signed agreement acts as a show of faith from club to player.
Speaking via a prepared statement, West Coast's National Recruiting Manager Rohan O'Brien hailed the mature-aged selection's commitment to the rebuilding club's cause.
“Connor has committed to get the best out of himself since joining the club and we are pleased he has re-signed for next season,” National Recruiting Manager Rohan O'Brien said.
“He was a valuable contributor during the first half of last season in particular when the team was facing significant availability challenges, and we believe there is still plenty of upside for Connor as he continues his AFL career with the club next year.”
West made his debut during the Eagles' Round 18 win over Adelaide in 2021.
