The GWS Giants have confirmed a pair of emerging talents will depart this off-season, with defender Leek Aleer and winger Jacob Wehr seeking opportunities elsewhere.

The Giants said in a club statement on Monday that the out-of-contract Aleer will request a trade, while Wehr will exit the club via delisted free agency after GWS elected to delist him after the 2024 season.

AFL Media's Cal Twomey reported that Leek Aleer has requested a trade to St Kilda following the Giants' comeback attempt fell short against Hawthorn on Saturday, making him the fourth player to officially nominate the club as their preferred destination, joining Carlton's Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni and premiership Eagle Liam Ryan.

Aleer is expected to sign a four-year deal with the Saints valued at approximately $3 million, turning down a two-year offer from GWS.

Aleer averaged 9.5 disposals and 4.2 spoils per game in 2025 and took a career-high seven marks against Geelong in the Giants' Round 18 win.

Wehr averaged close to career-best figures after being reselected as a rookie before the 2025 season, averaging 13.4 disposals and 2.5 rebound 50s per game as a winger. The 26-year-old was omitted for Saturday's elimination final and has played 39 games since being drafted to the club in 2020.
