West Coast backman Xavier Ellis will miss up to eight weeks of football after suffering an Achilles injury during the Eagles' 64-point win over Brisbane on Sunday.
Ellis played out the match, finishing with 10 disposals and a goal, but complained of soreness after the game, with scans revealing a partial tear in his Achilles tendon.
The full extent of the injury is still being assessed, but he is expected to miss six to eight weeks.
Meanwhile, tall defender Jeremy McGovern will face a test on his shoulder later this week after he was forced off in the field during the first quarter on Saturday.
However, he managed to play out the match and the club is confident he will be fit for Round 2.
"'Gov' had an AC (joint) problem early in the game, which he played through," West Coast football manager Craig Vozzo said.
"We're still confident that he will come up for the game but we're going to test him later in the week."
Lewis Jetta and Chris Masten, who both missed Round 1, are also both expected to return this week against Hawthorn.
