West Coast are preparing to be without key forward Jake Waterman, who is facing a likely stint on the sidelines after hurting his shoulder in Sunday's loss to Adelaide.
Waterman came from the field in the fourth term with a shoulder concern and didn't return to the field, ending his afternoon after a bright start where he managed three goals.
The concern surrounding Waterman was for a dislocated shoulder, which required treatment in the hospital after the match in South Australia.
Coach Andrew McQualter wasn't aware of the full extent of the setback, with Waterman undergoing scans on Sunday.
"I know he's just gone to hospital, so he won't fly home tonight," McQualter said post-game.
"I don't know exactly how bad that'll be. He's clearly in a fair bit of pain. We'll wait to see where that lands, I'm not exactly sure.
"(The shoulder) did come out, and then there was some trouble getting it back in, or it might've popped out again.
"He's gone off to hospital to get some scans. We'll find out the full extent of that later on."
The Eagles could hand young, tall Jack Williams a recall after his four-goal outing in the WAFL over the weekend, while uncapped ruck-forward Coen Livingstone booted a pair from 12 disposals in the loss to West Perth.
Filling Waterman's shoes will be difficult for McQualter, who spoke highly of the All-Australian's standing in the side.
"Jake's one of our leaders and one of our best players," the first-year coach said.
"You never want to lose your leaders. It's unfortunate, but we'll give the opportunity to someone else."
McQualter played down a corky concern for defender Tom Cole and had no update on veteran Jeremy McGovern's ongoing concussion battle.
The Eagles have returned to the losers' column after Round 11, with a meeting with contenders Geelong to come in Perth this Sunday.
