SEN's Dwayne Russell has picked Collingwood as the early premiership favourites for this season.

It may only be three rounds in, however, that hasn't stopped Russell from picking the Magpies as a potential winner as he has liked what he has seen so far as the black and white side are undefeated in the opening three rounds.

“Collingwood’s hot. They are the premiership favourites right now,” He said on his show SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

"They could do a demolition job on the Giants. I know it’s up there but they're still hard to trust, the Giants.

“I reckon this is the year for Bucks. It’s only a small sample size but is this his best chance ever? It seems as if everything is going right at the moment for Collingwood.

“They’ve had a bit of bad luck in recent seasons; the prelim final last year against the Giants … this is the year; this is the biggest ever chance to bring it home.

“They’ve had a couple of chances recently, but this could be the year that Bucks finally wins a flag for Collingwood. If I was to pick a team to go longest through the season without a loss, I reckon I’d be picking Collingwood ahead of Port (Adelaide).”

Russell was impressed by the Pies' emphatic display in their round three showing against St Kilda, winning by 44 points.

“I like the way they are playing. They’ve been consistent over the last few years so you can believe their form. It’s not like the form is just the last two weeks,” Russell said.

“You know that (Scott) Pendlebury is going to be consistent, you know (Steele) Sidebottom is going to maintain that form, you know Jeremy Howe is going to be one of the best backmen in the competition.”
