Sydney defender Aliir Aliir has been traded to Port Adelaide in exchange for a future-second round selection.

The 26-year-old is set to sign a four-year deal with the Power after requesting a trade to the South Australian club.

Aliir played 64 games for the Swans after being taken with the 44th overall selection in the 2013 draft.

“Aliir has impressed us during his time with Sydney with his defensive work and his ability to spend time in the ruck,” said Port Adelaide General Manager – Football, Chris Davies.

“We see him adding depth to our key defensive stocks and we think he is capable of fitting in with our overall defensive system.

“His speed, athleticism and intercept marking will certainly add value to our team, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club.”

The move is set to pave the way for the Swans to add West Coast ruckman Tom Hickey via trade.
