Fremantle veteran Michael Johnson will play on in 2018, signing a one-year contract extension.

Johnson played every game this season, after an injury ravaged 2016, when he managed just four matches.

The 32-year-old averaged 16.3 disposals, 3.5 rebound 50s and 5.5 marks per game in 2017 and said he is excited to continue to mentor a young back six next year.

“I’m stoked to be a part of Fremantle for another year,” Johnson said.

“We’ve got a really young crop of players who have been playing all year, so to be one of the older guys seeing these younger guys coming through while playing some really consistent footy for Fremantle, is a good sign.”

“I’m excited to be a part of it and, hopefully, in the years to come the Fremantle Football Club will be one of the powerhouses of the competition.”

Johnson has played a total of 231 games in 13 years at the Dockers.
