The Demons valiant effort against the Bulldogs on Sunday has not come without a toll, as interim senior coach Troy Chaplin has revealed at least one young gun is expected to miss the final two weeks of the season after the six-point loss.
Caleb Windsor appeared to sustain a brutal hamstring injury in the dying minutes of the thriller, clutching at the back of his upper leg after a dash and kick along the wing, which Chaplin expressed his disappointment over for the young star.
"Caleb Windsor's had a bit of an injury-interrupted year, but we've been able to throw him into the midfield," Chaplin said post-game.
"Unfortunately, looks like a [hamstring injury] today, which is disappointing because we like what he does in there."
Kade Chandler was also seen on the bench for an extended period of time, but eventually returned to the game, kicking a critical late goal to give the Demons a chance to draw level.
Positively, Chaplin doesn't believe there are any major concerns for the young forward, who has kicked 17 goals this season.
"I think it was just cramp [for Chandler]," Chaplin said.
"I think he's going to be fine. He's been quality for us behind the footy and to be able to throw him forward late when the game needed to be won, and for him to be able to hit the scoreboard, was a pretty good interchange I reckon."
The Demons will hope to cover Windsor's midfield impact well next week, as they look to play the role of spoiler against the in-form Hawks at the MCG.
