Axed Geelong youngster Ted Clohesy has been invited to trial with the Port Adelaide Power via the 2026 Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).
Clohesy's training spell at Alberton got underway this week, giving the midfielder just under a month to secure a career lifeline in South Australia, with the SSP closing on February 20.
The 21-year-old will make a bid to claim a spot on an AFL list after his tenure with the Cats ended after 12 senior games - nine of which came in 2025. He ultimately signed with SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens Eagles in November.
Clohesy had a mini breakout campaign in 2025, his third year on the Cats' rookie list. His physicality around the contest and hard-nosed efforts, which saw half of his possessions come as contested, were rewarded with a run of three consecutive games where he did not start as the medical substitute and instead found himself in the best 22.
In games where Clohesy featured in at least 50% time on ground, he averaged 13.3 disposals with 6.3 of those being contested possessions, highlighting some of the untapped potential the 21-year-old still has to give to the league.
Port Adelaide begin their 2026 pre-season schedule with a match simulation hit out against cross-town rivals Adelaide on Friday, February 20, at Alberton Oval.
