Axed Essendon winger Luamon Lual has signed with the Casey Demons in the VFL for the 2026 season and has nominated South Warrnambool as his home club for weekends he is not selected to the state-level side.
Lual was a young prospect who finally got his chance at Essendon in 2025, featuring in a dozen games at the top flight. He showed plenty of promise as a genuine winger, averaging 8.6 disposals per game at 77 per cent efficiency, as well as 2.1 score involvements.
Despite the genuine winger finishing with a career-best game in Round 24 against Carlton, recording 12 disposals and seven marks, Lual was a victim of the list crunch that took place at the Hangar over this off-season which also saw star midfielder Dylan Shiel and quality forward Ben Hobbs fail to receive contract offers for 2026.
He now joins Melbourne's VFL affiliate as they look to push for a state-league premiership in 2026, finishing fifth in 2025 and ultimately falling short of the ultimate goal, eliminated by the Frankston Dolphins in the semi-final.

South Warnambool expressed their excitement to have Lual nominate the Hampden Football League club as his home side, with the Roosters hoping to claim a second premiership in three seasons.
"We're absolutely thrilled to have Luamon connected back with the Roosters in any capacity, and know Thomas, Mali, and the entire Rooster Army will be looking forward to seeing him back at the Friendlies whenever the opportunity allows."
