Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield has revealed his baby joy after his wife Mardi gave birth to their son on Tuesday night.

The 2016 Brownlow Medallist recounted the birth on his new fishing podcast Reel Adventures, and joked that his son was just big enough to keep.

“He weighed in at seven pounds and 12 ounces, and just over half a metre, so we’ll be keeping him,” Dangerfield laughed.

“It all went pretty quickly. Well, for me, not for Mars (Mardi).”

The Dangerfield's named their son George, and it was Patrick who was most pleased with that outcome.

“I won’t lie to you ... when I saw that little willy, I could’ve done cartwheels,” Dangerfield joked.

“In all seriousness, it was a wonderful, wonderful night. Mum’s healthy, George is healthy and I’m happy.”

It's news that would satisfy Adelaide fans the most, given the midfielder played 154 games for the Crows, meaning George is an eligible father/son selection.

Cats fans will have to wait at least another 62 games, with Dangerfield currently on 38 games with Geelong.
