Former AFL greats Mack Maclure and Nick Dal Santo butt heads on Fox Footy's AFL360 on Wednesday regarding the Blues' horror 58-point loss to North Melbourne last week.

Dal Santo believes the coaching staff must be held accountable for Carlton's underwhelming performance, while Maclure debated that the players must take on the responsibility.

On-field was at the head of their discussion, and things got testy when Maclure told Dal Santo to "not make excuses for them."

Dal Santo: No I’m not.

Maclure: Yeah you are.

Dal Santo: I’m trying to justify and give a bit of … it’s confusing at times …

Maclure: That’s the worst thing you can do.

Dal Santo: Is what?

Maclure: How can they be confused? They work all week, they have 10 coaches who are telling them what to do — and they turn up and they don’t know what to do?

Dal Santo: When you’re down by six or seven goals at quarter-time …

Maclure: No, no — in the first five minutes?

Dal Santo: … you get desperate.

Maclure: First five minutes? Cut it out, champ … I’ve champed him already!

Dal Santo: *Laughs* Do you speak to Kingy like that?

Maclure: Absolutely.
