The Crows have their eyes set on the potential top pick, Jack Lukosius; and they are willing to trade picks and players to get him.
Foxfooty.com.au reported that the Crows holds Lukosius in higher regard than it does Izak Rankine, two South Australians in number 1 pick contention.
A source close to the Adelaide's planning said the club is “desperate” to keep Lukosius in South Australia.
If the season were to finish now, the Crows would have picks 8, 13 (off Melbourne for Jake Lever), plus selections 19 and 37 (from Carlton for Bryce Gibbs).
Also, with a few stars on the trading block and Rory Sloane possibly leaving in free agency, The Crows' list manager is going to have a very busy off season trying to turn their assets into a number one pick.
Along with Lukosius and Rankine, there are many talented South Australians in the draft this year, and with Adelaide's history of losing players returning home, they'll be looking to pick up South Australians from the draft.
Lukosius is a 194cm key forward, and was named as an All-Australian after a strong showing in the under 18 Championships, averaging 15 disposals and 7.8 marks. According to draft expert Kevin Sheehan, Lukosius has "got an elite skill set.”
“Centre half back, centre forward, either one, it wouldn’t worry him. Even has a run on a wing at times,” Sheehan told Foxfooty.com.au.
“He’s blessed with speed, he’s one touch in the air, reads it way ahead of other players, so he just sees it in flight and doesn’t fumble. For a player his size, his kicking is elite."
Carlton currently look to be front runners to receive the first pick in the draft as they sit two wins behind Gold Coast at 17th.
