Crows veteran Taylor Walker will play in a 19th AFL season in 2026, recommitting to Adelaide on a one-year extension on Saturday night.

His extension comes a fortnight after a report emerged that senior opportunities may be hard to come by for Adelaide's all-time leading goalkicker as the Crows great weighed up his future in the league.

However, Walker will go again in 2026 and said he was looking forward to what the group can achieve.

“It's been incredible for me to witness and play a part in the growth of this team over the past few years,” Walker said.

“I'm excited to see what we can achieve next year and am keen to do what I can to help.”

Adelaide GM List Management Justin Reid highlighted Walker's professionalism and leadership as a key reason for his re-signing.

“Taylor is an ultimate professional and he sets and drives high standards, in terms of preparation and performance, for himself and his teammates,” Reid said.

“In the past couple of weeks, we've had honest and genuine conversations and there's a clear understanding and alignment on the role he can play for us next year."

Senior coach Matthew Nicks provided a similar sentiment.

“Aside from Tex's ability to influence games, he also imparts knowledge and guidance across the playing group,” Nicks said.

“We're excited to have Tex on board for another year.”

Walker featured in 23 of a possible 25 games for the Crows this season, kicking 39 goals, which ranked third for Adelaide.

Taylor Walker will turn 36 in April next year, making him the third key forward to be in the AFL at that age since 2012. The other two were Tom Hawkins (2024) and Lance Franklin (2023). Franklin kicked 19 goals in 13 matches that year, while Hawkins kicked 15 from 12 games.
