Adelaide forward Mitch McGovern remains in doubt for Friday night's preliminary final against Geelong, and Crows' Head of Football Brett Burton has conceded he "appears unlikely" to be available.

McGovern reported tightness in his left hamstring over the weekend after a training session, and told the medical staff he was experiencing soreness.

The 22-year-old forward missed 10 games earlier this season with a hamstring injury, although that was on his other leg.

McGovern completed a running session on Monday morning, and will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Friday's big clash.

“Mitch was able to do some running this morning which is encouraging, however he will appear unlikely to be available for this week,” Burton told afc.com.au.

“Given the time of the year, we will push his rehabilitation on to give him every chance to be available as soon as possible.”
