The Gold Coast Suns have confirmed Staurt Dew will be the club's next senior senior coach.

Dew has signed a three-year deal with the Suns, following eight years as an assistant coach with the Sydney Swans.

โ€œWe are absolutely thrilled to have signed Stuart Dew as our senior coach,โ€ Suns chairman Tony Cochrane said.

โ€œOur Chief Executive, Mark Evans, ran a very thorough process to identify and secure the best person to take us forward.

โ€œStuart boasts the qualities required to be a successful coach and I am confident our team will grow with Stuart over the coming years.โ€

Dew said he is looking forward to what promises to be a huge but rewarding challenge.

โ€œI am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to moving to the Gold Coast with my family and getting stuck into the challenge ahead,โ€ Dew said.

โ€œI would like to acknowledge the Sydney Swanโ€™s for the development and experience they have given to me to help me secure this positon.

โ€œIn particular, Iโ€™d like to thank John Longmire, Tom Harley, Dean Moore and Andrew Ireland for the education and assistance that they have provided to me.

โ€œI will move to the Gold Coast as soon as possible and I look forward to meeting our players and staff and working with them as we develop a clear pathway to future success for our fans in the coming years.โ€

โ€œMy experience tells me that the success we all crave comes on the back of genuine buy in and commitment from all and a sustained selfless team approach, thatโ€™s where I want to take the Gold Coast Suns."

As a player, Dew played 180 games for Port Adelaide between 1997 and 2006, including the 2004 premiership, before retiring from the game.

He then came out of retirement in 2008, helping Hawthorn to a shock grand final win over Geelong, before retiring for the second time at the end of the 2009 season after 26 games with the Hawks.
