Dennis Cometti is back!

The AFL commentary legend will return to the Channel 7 coverage of Thursday night's clash between Collingwood and Geelong at Optus Stadium, according to Essendon great Tim Watson.

Watson said Cometti won't call the game but will make a special half-time appearance.

“You will see Dennis Cometti on the Channel 7 coverage tonight,” Watson said on SEN Breakfast.

“You will see him at half-time but he won’t be calling the game. He’s going to make an appearance at half-time.

“I assume he may not want (to call footy on TV anymore) and maybe he’s not up to it.

“All I tell you is he’ll be there at half-time and it will be great to see him back on the screen.”

The 71-year old retired from TV commentary at the end of the 2016 season, with the Western Bulldogs premiership triumph being his last match.

He still calls Perth AFL matches for local radio.

Cometti was last month inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
