Collingwood is reportedly keen to bring across Daniel Giansiracusa to fill a coaching role after Scott Selwood departed the club.
After a tumultuous 12 months, Selwood informed the club of his desire to step away from football, noting his intention to travel and explore opportunities in other fields.
Selwood's departure was followed by Pies development coach Josh Fraser, who left to pursue an opportunity at Carlton, leaving vacant roles.
Craig McRae and his team are on the hunt to fill the void left by the respected duo, and believe that Essendon's Giansiracusa is a perfect fit.
The former Bulldogs player has been at the Bombers since the end of 2020, and has been around the mark for senior coaching gigs at West Coast, Richmond and Melbourne.
AFL Media's Cal Twomey believes that Giansiracusa and Essendon are working on a contract extension amid his recent pursuit for the Demons' top job, which was won by Steven King.
Last year, he flagged his intentions of becoming a senior coach one day, and he has the experience to back it up.
"That's the plan. I've got aspirations to be a senior coach," Giansiracusa said on 3AW in April 2024.
"I'm really lucky that I've got Brad (head coach Brad Scott) to learn off. I've had some good coaches that I've worked with or played under. I'm learning plenty off Brad, and I'll continue to grow in that space. Hopefully, one day, an opportunity comes up."
Giansiracusa was named the AFL Coaches Association's Assistant Coach of the Year in 2020, and looked after the Footscray Bulldogs in 2019.
