Collingwood young forward Jaidyn Stephenson quietly signed a bumper contract extension at around $600,000 per year in 2019 according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

The Pies have been the subject of intense scrutiny over recent weeks for their behaviour of wanting to offload players on big money, including Stephenson.

Stephenson was playing stellar football under Nathan Buckley during 2018 and 2019, but had a below average 2020.

All up he has played 54 games, kicking 76 goals.

The club reportedly asked him to look elsewhere for game-time, but Edmund said on AFL Trade Radio's Trade Afternoons that the 21-year-old now wants to stay with the Pies.

“Jaidyn Stephenson does not want to go anywhere and stay right where he is.

“He’s pretty well paid too, he has three years to run on a contract there, he signed a quiet little contract extension at Collingwood to keep him there for a few more years.

“I think he’s on close to $600,000 a season as well, he didn’t have a great 2020 but his first two seasons were pretty good."
