The AFL industry is taking measuring precautions to protect staff and players from the spread of the coronavirus.

Melbourne has segregated its football departments by moving its men's program to Casey Fields, where they will use a separate area to the club's VFL affiliate team.

The Demons AFLW program will remain at AAMI Park and the administration from the MCG or from home.

Premiers Richmond have closed it's doors to external visitors and have not scheduled open training sessions in the immediate future, while Collingwood have cancelled their Friday night open training session.

Coronavirus measures were also introduced at club season launches on Wednesday night, with contact between players and fans limited to prevent the potential spread of the illness.

Fox Footy has elected for commentators to call all games from outside Victoria in the Melbourne studio, according to SEN's Sam Edmund.

“I’ve heard a whisper, and Fox do such an amazing job of covering footy around the country all season long in every stadium that we have, now I’m hearing that because of the coronavirus, all games outside of Victoria will be called off the TV back here in the studio,” Edmund told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

Additionally, the league has suspended all group training of both AFL and AFLW umpires, according to AFL reported Mark Stevens.

"As a precautionary measure we have advised AFL and AFLW umpires of alternative training arrangements for the time being," an AFL spokesperson told Seven.
