AFL champion Chris Judd has revealed his top five taggers in the AFL for the 2018 season.
Judd appeared on Footy Classified, listing the players he believes are the best taggers in the game and notes their impressive efforts to stop some of the stars of the AFL from producing at their average rate.
Judd's picks were met with some criticism from the shows host Craig Hutchison.
"This is a hard thing to say to a champion but that is a reasonable hit to your credibility."
Juddโs top five are as follows, while the entire video can be seen above.
1. Ed Curnow (CARL)
"The number one tagger in the AFL is Ed Curnow. Kept Sidebottom and Higgins to 15 disposals each, number one in the league in tackles and averaging 27 disposals himself so I don't think there's any doubt about it at all, Ed Curnow is the number one tagger in the competition."
2. Ben Jacobs (NM)
"Terrific job against Dustin Martin on the weekend, kept him to 15 disposals. He's a very defensive tagger, Hutchy."
3. Elliot Yeo (WC)
"Doesn't tag exclusively, but he's number one on the Eagles in contested possessions [avg. 12] and has done a good job of [Nat] Fyfe in the past."
4. Bailey Banfield (FRE)
"The 19-year-old from WA ... kept Whitfield and Merrett to 15 and 7 disposals respectively this year."
5. Harry Cunningham (SYD)
"Kept Isaac Smith to 6 disposals on the weekend. Has the ability to attack inside and outside."
