Carlton youngster Brodie Kemp has suffered an ankle injury at training.

The Blues confirmed in a statement on Tuesday night that the 19-year old suffered a syndesmosis injury to his left ankle.

The incident occurred in a marking contest during Friday's training session - with the injury expected to sideline the young midfielder for at least 12 weeks.

Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd had full faith in Kemp attacking his rehab and bouncing back.

“Brodie has put in a lot of hard work over the last 12 months, from the moment he arrived at the football club,” Lloyd told carltonfc.com.au.

“While this news is unfortunate as Brodie was really setting himself for the start of the season, he certainly has the mindset to attack his rehab with professionalism and commitment.”

Kemp was drafted by Carlton with Pick 17 in the 2019 AFL draft but did not play in his debut season rehabbing a torn ACL.
