Carlton veteran Eddie Betts is reportedly edging closer to a contract extension with the Blues, with the 33-year-old keen to play on with the club in 2021, per SEN's Sam Edmund.
Betts marvellous return to the club has seen the small-forward flourish in the twilight of his career, booting 13 goals from his 12 matches in 2020.
Following his two-goal effort against the Magpies on Sunday, Edmund reported that Betts is hoping to pencil in a 17th AFL season for next year.
“Eddie Betts has recaptured some of that spark and he’s really keen to play on next year,” Edmund on SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
“He turns 34 in November and talks have been encouraging between the club and player about a new deal. Like other clubs, the Blues are parking contract talks while they wait on list size numbers and salary cap ceilings.
“The Crows are paying this year a portion of Betts’ salary in which is the last year of the pretty lucrative contract he signed with Adelaide in 2017.
“Moving forward, his contract will solely be paid for by Carlton.”
Betts has played 328 games in his career, booting 613 goals across 16 seasons.
