Carlton ruckman Tom De Koning is in serious doubt to face Sydney on Friday night at the SCG due to a larynx injury.
According to a report from Channel 7's Mitch Cleary, De Koning suffered a throat injury last week and will be given Thursday's captain's run to prove his fitness.
The highly-sought-after tall has been in career-best form, ranking among the competition's best ruckmen.

Depth ruckman Marc Pittonet would be the suspected replacement if De Koning is unavailable to tackle Brodie Grundy and the Swans.
Pittonet hasn't played in the senior side this year, with coach Michael Voss favouring De Koning as the solo ruck, whilst utilising Harry McKay and Patrick Cripps in bursts.
The former Hawk has played the past month on the reserves side.
Key defender Mitch McGovern will be given every chance to feature on Friday night after a collision with St Kilda's Liam O'Connell.
Carlton listed McGovern as a "test", with scans clearing him of any structural damage.
Blake Acres will miss this week with a shoulder injury, while Lachie Cowan hurt his hamstring and will miss the next fortnight before the bye.
Alex Cincotta (hip) has been deemed available for selection but could return through the VFL following a long stint on the sidelines.
Voss will have veteran Sam Docherty at his disposal following a dominant performance in the VFL. He collected 38 touches and 14 marks in last week's win over Sandringham Zebras.
Jordan Boyd looks poised to bolster the defence, while the Camporeale brothers (Ben and Lucas) will come into selection consideration.
