Carlton coach Michael Voss has labelled the recent rumours surrounding two-time Coleman Medal winner Charlie Curnow as "speculation" and "hearsay".

Curnow's name was stunningly raised in trade talks, with the Blues spearhead said to be keen on a move away from Princes Park for a lifestyle change.

That desire is said to have sparked an interest from Curnow to join Gold Coast, while Sydney and Geelong have also been floated as potential destinations for the 28-year-old.

The news has surprised Voss, who couldn't give an answer on the reports linking his star forward to the exit, with the Blues coach moving to mention that Curnow is "a Carlton man".

Speaking to media on Wednesday morning, Voss quashed the suggestion Curnow, who is contracted until the end of 2029, could leave Carlton as early as this year.

"It's speculation," Voss said.

"Charlie is a Carlton man and he'll stay a Carlton man. I'm not sure how much more emphatic I need to be on that.

"I appreciate these times of the year, when you're not going so well, there will always be some speculation on your players, but it probably ends there for us.

"It's speculation. It's hard to operate and have a conversation on hearsay, so other than to say Charlie is a very important person to us and he'll play out his career here.

"He's a Carlton person and will stay one."

Curnow has been an instrumental piece in Carlton's return to contention in years gone by, winning the Coleman Medal as the club snapped its September drought on its way to a preliminary finals finish.

He would claim his third successive club leading goalkicker gong last year as the Blues amassed another finals finish, eventually losing top Brisbane in their elimination final.

Curnow has played 148 games for Carlton since being drafted in 2015, earning selections in the 2022 and 2023 All-Australian teams.
