Carlton has confirmed Jack Silvagni suffered a bruised lung and fractured rib in last night's win over Essendon.
Silvagni left the field early in the contest after a knock to his ribs by Essendon's Zach Merrett.
He did not return to the field and was sent to hospital for scans.
Merrett has come under fire for the incident, which will be reviewed by the MRO.
