Carlton has put a line through ruckman Tom De Koning's playing prospects for Round 10 due to a throat injury.
De Koning suffered the injury last week against St Kilda, initially placing him in doubt for Friday's match with the Swans.
The club has since confirmed De Koning will miss the match, with the Blues big man expected to play the following week.
"Carlton ruckman Tom De Koning will miss tomorrow night's game due to a throat injury," a club update read.
"The 25-year-old experienced a knock to the throat area in last week's game and has been unable to recover in time to make the trip to Sydney.
"At this stage he is expected to recover to play in Round 11, with his availability to be further assessed next week."
The absence of De Koning will likely open the door for Marc Pittonet to return to Michael Voss' side.
Carlton are already facing multiple changes for this week, with Blake Acres (shoulder) and Lachie Cowan (hamstring) both being sidelined, while Mitch McGovern (chest) needs to get through training this week.
The Blues face Sydney at the SCG on Friday night, with final teams to be named an hour prior to the 7:40pm (AEST) bounce.
