Carlton's No.6 selection in last year's National Draft, Sam Petrevski-Seton, has suffered a quad strain, putting him in doubt for a round one debut.

The 18-year-old has impressed in his first pre-season in the AFL and looked set to make his debut against Richmond on March 23 at the MCG.

However, he pulled up sore from training last week, with scans revealing a minor quad injury.

The club is hopeful he can recover in time for round one.

"It's obviously a disappointing setback for Sam who is in the middle of his first AFL pre-season campaign," Carlton head of football Andrew McKay told the club's website.

"He is a fantastic young man and an exciting prospect for us long-term, so we look forward to Sam making a full recovery and hopeful he will still be available for round one selection."
