In-form Carlton defender Jack Silvagni is reportedly facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken hand in Sunday's win over Geelong.
Silvagni has been a shining light under Michael Voss in 2025, returning from a season on the sidelines after recovering from an ACL injury to thrive in the Blues' backline.
Partnering All-Australian Jacob Weitering and aiding the roles of Mitch McGovern and Nick Haynes, Silvagni has proven to be a viable swingman option for Voss after spending most of his career in attack.
Silvagni has lost just two of his 19 contested defensive one-on-ones, ranking third overall among the top 30 defenders to have faced the most contests this season.
His strong start to the year is now expected to be hindered by an injury setback, with SEN reporters Sam Edmund and Tom Morris revealing on Monday that Silvagni could miss up to two weeks with a hand injury.
Silvagni is expected to undergo surgery on a break in his hand, likely meaning he'll miss his side's Round 8 meeting with Adelaide.
In addition to Sammyโs report, Silvagni will have surgery in the next day or two. Likely timeframe is 1-2 weeks out, dependent on the success of the procedure. @FootyonNine @9NewsMelb @1116sen https://t.co/AuZgY1dbFs

The injury to Silvagni could open the door for Lewis Young to return to Voss' side, while Lachie Cowan is another option if Carlton look to go smaller against the Crows.
Adelaide could be without gun forward Riley Thilthorpe due to a hand injury of his own, however the Crows could welcome back Darcy Fogarty from a shoulder concern.
Carlton and Adelaide will battle at Adelaide Oval on Saturday at 4:15pm (AEST), with the Blues chasing their fourth successive win of the year.
