North Melbourne swingman Charlie Comben suffered a nasty blow during Sunday's clash against the Western Bulldogs that saw trainers help him from the ground.

Comben went back with the flight of the ball before coming into contact with oncoming traffic.

Bulldogs forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was contesting the ball but made unfortunate contact with Comben's head as well as landing on him.

The North Melbourne tall will miss the remainder of the home and away season after likely  entering concussion protocols.

Comben was also in the wars before the contest, coming from the ground with a calf injury.

Kangaroos substitute Miller Bergman was injected into the game.

More to come.
