Young Bulldog Ed Richards is set for a lengthy stint on the sidelines after breaking his fibula on the weekend.
Richards suffered an ankle injury in the Bulldogs VFL practice match on Friday which caused his fibula to break, with scans thereafter revealing the unfortunate prognosis.

The Bulldogs confirmed the setback in a statement on Monday afternoon.
“Unfortunately Ed got his ankle caught in a tackle, which caused his fibula to break,” Bulldogs head of medical services Chris Bell told the club website.
“This injury did require surgery, which was completed on Saturday morning.
“We expect Ed to miss the next eight-to-10 weeks of football.”

Richards has played 58 AFL games since making his debut in 2018.
