Brisbane's Chris Fagan is the first coach in AFL history to be crowned a three-time winner (2019, 2024, 2025) of the Monjon Allan Jeans Senior Coach of the Year (AFLCA award).

Fagan was rewarded for his efforts from his peers, taking the Lions back to the final Saturday in September for the third consecutive year, despite the litany of injuries and difficult fixtures.

He finished on 305 votes, winning the award ahead of Chris Scott (245 votes) and Matthew Nicks (128).

Fagan sat comfortably among fellow two-time AFLCA coaching winners Mark Thompson (2007, 2008), John Worsfold (2006, 2011), Ken Hinkley (2013, 2020), John Longmire (2012, 2014) and Luke Beveridge (2015, 2016), but has placed himself in another realm.

"I'm part of a committed team of coaches and support staff at the Lions who strive to deliver a high-quality program on a daily basis to bring out the best in our players," Fagan said.

"The energy and expertise that our coaches bring to their roles have been pivotal to our consistency and success as a team. I know it's my name that goes on the trophy, but in reality, it's the work of the coaching group that matters most, and so I accept this award on behalf of everyone who works in our Football Department at the Lions."

The Lions experienced further success as midfield coach Cam Bruce was named Assistant Coach of the Year, beating out Adelaide's Murray Davis and Lions defensive coach Dale Morris.

However, Davis was awarded the 2025 AFL Coaches Association Career and Education Award.

David Mackay of Hawthorn has been named Development Coach of the Year, pipping North Melbourne's Michael Barlow and West Coast's Jamie Maddocks.

Recognition of the best-performed Senior Coach throughout the home and away season, having regard for the current season's performance, available resources, player talent and team management.

All Coaches Vote on a 3,2,1 basis.
