Brisbane veteran Dayne Zorko has received a $3000 fine for using "profane language" that was directed towards the officials bench at the Gabba during last Friday's win over the Western Bulldogs.
The AFL confirmed Zorko has been sanctioned for his actions, with the defender using "insulting" language as he came from the field during the eventual 10-point win.
The league released a statement on Friday evening confirming that Zorko had been fined, and that the AFL has reminded its players that there is zero tolerance for abuse directed toward
"The AFL has sanctioned Brisbane Lions' player Dayne Zorko $3000 for his use of insulting and profane language directed towards the officials bench as he exited the field of play during the last quarter of the Round 19 Match between the Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs," the league said in a statement.
"The AFL reminds all players that the AFL has no tolerance for abusive or insulting conduct towards AFL umpires and other match officials."
In Round 3 this year, West Coast forward Liam Ryan was handed a $1500 fine, which was reduced to $1000 with an early plea, by the Match Review Officer for making abusive language towards an umpire.
