The Brisbane Lions have secured the services of versatile utility Bruce Reville for another year, with the 25-year-old signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him in Brisbane until at least the end of the 2026 season.

Reville has become a valuable depth piece for the Lions since breaking into the senior side in 2023, showing his ability to impact games across multiple roles.

Originally taken as a Category B rookie via the 2023 Rookie Draft, Reville's journey to the top level has been anything but conventional.

Raised in Cairns after being born in Papua New Guinea, he spent time in the VFL and worked multiple jobs before eventually earning his shot on the club's AFL list.

He made his debut in last year's Round 8 Q Clash and has since featured in 17 senior matches, including five this season, all of which have resulted in wins for the Lions.

Reville says he is delighted to sign on with the Lions.

"I'm just so grateful for the opportunity the club has given me and my family," he said.

"Obviously, my journey to the AFL was a bit longer than most, so it makes these moments just a little more special to us.

"It's a privilege to wear this jersey, and to be able to do that for another year is special.

"I just want to focus on what 2025 is going to look like for me and the club, and be ready for any opportunity that comes my way.

"The goal for the rest of this year is just to play consistently good footy and be ready to do whatever the team needs me to."

Lions Football boss Danny Daly praised Reville's persistence and versatility, noting the energy and effort he brings across multiple roles on the field.

"It's a great reward for Bruce because he is as committed as any player in wanting to get the best out of themselves and reaching their full potential," he said

"To see him come through the Youi Brisbane Lions Academy into our VFL program and now be signed on for his third season of AFL is fantastic.

"Bruce has shown he is more than capable at AFL level, and we look forward to seeing him continue to develop his game across the next 18 months.

"We are rapt to have Bruce, his partner Zoe and their family staying at the Lions."
